Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs)
Rover Robotics builds six rugged, ROS 2-ready unmanned ground vehicles: the mini, Rover Zero, Rover Pro, MITI, MAX and MEGA. They range from a 25 lb lab robot to the MEGA, which carries 500 lb, and they are made in America for research, defense and industrial field teams.
Every Rover UGV ships ROS 2-ready and accepts most lidars, cameras and sensors. Compare payload, terrain and runtime below, or ask us about a custom build.

What is an unmanned ground vehicle?
An unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is a robot that drives on the ground without a person on board. It is either teleoperated or runs autonomously using sensors and navigation software. Teams use UGVs to carry sensors and payloads into places that are slow, dull or unsafe for people, such as inspection routes, security patrols, farm rows and test ranges.
Rover sells the base platform: chassis, drive system, battery and ROS 2 drivers. Your team adds the sensors and software for the job.

Rover UGV models
mini
The mini is our smallest UGV, at 380 mm long and 25 lb. It carries 100 lb, runs 4+ hours on a 36V battery and is IP54 rated. The quiet hub motors suit labs, classrooms and indoor autonomy work. Explore the mini →
Rover Zero
The Rover Zero shares its brushless drive hardware with the Rover Pro at a lower price. It carries 110 lb and climbs hills, sidewalks and dry gravel. The 98 Wh battery is small enough to take on a plane, so it's easy to fly with. It has no IP rating, so keep it out of rain and heavy dirt. 2WD, 4WD, crawler and tracked versions are available. Rover Pro
The Rover Pro is our most popular robot, with over 1,000 units shipped worldwide. Its IP67 design keeps it running in rain, mud and dust from -20°C to 50°C (0°F to 120°F). High-torque brushless motors reach 2.5 m/s (5.6 mph), and a military-grade lithium-ion battery reports its health through the ROS driver. Choose 2WD, 4WD or flipper versions. Explore the Rover Pro →
MITI
The MITI weighs 40 lb and carries 150 lb, with 11 cm of ground clearance on 10" wheels. It runs 4+ hours, is IP54 rated and works with an optional charging dock. It works for projects that run both indoors and outdoors, and for fleets as well as single robots. Explore the MITI →
MAX
The MAX is for heavier outdoor work. Geared pneumatic 15" or 13" wheels give 17.5 cm of ground clearance, and a stainless-steel-reinforced frame carries 200 lb of payload. It runs 4+ hours, is IP54 rated and includes an E-stop. Teams use it for field research, prototyping and industrial automation. Explore the MAX →
MEGA
The MEGA carries 500 lb on 21" geared pneumatic wheels with 25 cm of ground clearance. At 1100 mm long, it's our largest UGV, meant for jobs like agricultural robotics, autonomous delivery, environmental monitoring and industrial automation. It's ROS 2-ready and runs 4+ hours. Explore the MEGA →
Why Rover Robotics
- ROS 2-ready out of the box. Every platform ships with open ROS 2 drivers on our GitHub. Computers we configure run ROS 2 Humble by default, so you can skip driver work and start on navigation. See our robot software.
- Built for outdoor use. Most models are IP54 or IP67 rated, and the mini, MITI, MAX and MEGA have steel-reinforced frames.
- Your choice of sensors. Mount most lidars, cameras, GPS units and other sensors. Add-ons include payload boxes, an indoor navigation package, charging docks and a pre-configured Raspberry Pi 5.
- Made in America. Rover UGVs are made in America.
- Same software across models. Every model runs ROS 2, so moving from a mini or Rover Zero to a MAX or MEGA doesn't mean starting over on software.
- Custom builds. Our robotics integration team can build a robot around a different drive, payload or sensor setup.

Frequently asked questions about Rover UGVs
Which Rover Robotics UGV is right for my project?
It depends on payload, terrain and where you will run it. The mini and Rover Zero suit lab work and dry outdoor terrain. The Rover Pro (IP67) and MITI handle rougher outdoor field work. The MAX and MEGA carry the heaviest loads, up to 500 lb on the MEGA. If you're unsure, send us those details and we'll suggest one.
Are Rover Robotics UGVs ROS 2 compatible?
Yes. Every Rover platform ships ROS 2-ready, with open drivers on our GitHub so you can start on navigation and autonomy software. Computers we configure run ROS 2 Humble by default.
Do Rover robots come with an onboard computer?
No. Our robots do not include an onboard computer by default. You can add a pre-configured computer, such as a Raspberry Pi 5 set up with Ubuntu 22.04 and ROS 2, or use your own.
Which Rover UGVs are weatherproof?
The Rover Pro is IP67 rated for rain, mud and dust. The mini, MITI and MAX are IP54 rated for splashes and dust. The Rover Zero has no IP rating, so it is best kept to dry conditions.
How much weight can a Rover UGV carry?
Payload capacity ranges from 100 lb on the mini to 500 lb on the MEGA. The Rover Zero and Rover Pro carry 110 lb, the MITI 150 lb and the MAX 200 lb.
Where are Rover Robotics UGVs made?
